you have virtual desktop manager power toy installed, and are running
Excel 2007 on one of the desktops, and switch to an alternate desktop,
when
you return to your original desktop, the Ribbon completely disappears
from
Excel! The spreadsheets are there, but the entire Ribbon has vanished

This does not happen with Word 2007, however.

I've had some other strage behavor with this power toy (for example,
Microsoft Money is active on all descktops, as well as various
FrameMaker
dialogs), but this is the 1st time I've seen a virtual desktop bug as
nasty
