Some of our business users (especially home-based) need to add local printers
under their accounts, but it is not applicable to add them into local
administrators group. Is there any existing method (e.g. registry or group
policy) to make "add printer" wizard available to limited user (or Power
Users) to add LOCAL Printer?

Hi, Alan, you're right!
Via Group Policy, "Users" group can also get load driver privilege, but is
that possible for this group to add local printer? (I've already considered
using "Runas" or other 3rd party software, but it's not so good!), any
existing method?

If Plug-N-Play installs the printer for the user then that's the only way in
XP. But the driver needs to be inbox (XP came out 5 years ago so you have
to use 5 year old devices) or the driver must be already installed.

If you are adding printers that target a network port, minimum is Power
Users.

Hi Adao,

You can elevate applications or OS functions on a per application basis
using Privilege Guard from Avecto www.avecto.com. It will allow you to
elevate the add local printer wizard for standard users.

Thanks
Andrew
