Hi folks...I,m new to this d/v revolution and have just installed a firewire
port on my p.c. However , after plugging in my camcorder ( sanyo digital
viewcam ) thru a d/v lead into the firewire port ....nothing at all happens.
If anybody has a clue I would love to hear from you !! Many Thanks !!

Ensure:
The digital camcorder is powered by an external power source and not by its
internal battery
The digital camcorder is turned on and in VCR mode
Do you hear any 'ding' sound after connecting?

Hi Cari.... The camcorder was being powered by its own battery but was turned
on and in vcr mode. There was no "ding" when I connected it. I will try
powering it from the mains electricity and see ??? Many thanks !!

Another thing to check is the cable itself. A common problem often seen is
a bad cable... perhaps a friend has a known working cable you can borrow for
diagnostic purposes.
