Hello everybody!
I have a brand new VAIO vgn-n385qe wich I bought for music production using mainly Sonar6 wich doesnt work on Vista. So I formated everything(Vista)and want to start brand new with xp. I downloaded all the drivers and installed them but here is what is not working:
-Wireless finds my connection but can't log on internet(limited connection)
-During network adapter drivers installation,it says can't install drivers,no network adapter found...is this normal...I'm new to this type of installation here...so maybe I don't need those?
-HFXsetup just wont run for modem drivers. So I manually tried to install the driver....CRASH! the computer shutdown and bootitself after saying something bad happened I dont recall the message..Blue page..anyway...
-First thing after installing all the drivers I could and re-booting,I click on system icon to check on device manager what is left to install...It took about 30 seconds to open...not a good start..
-Ethernet controller and Mass Storage Controller drivers still uninstalled...how do I know wich driver to download from ethernet controller menu??Where Do I find drivers for Mass storage?
Oups wrong driver for the modem...trying the other one there...
Ok now I have three Question marks in device manager. The modem wont install using setup.

-OK solve the wireless problem,it was a IP problem..thanks to linksys who spent at least 2 hours with me trying to solve the problem.

-Now have Network adapter running don't know how??!Re-boot maybe!?

-Found drivers for
ethernet:http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=103&pId=3
It's not exaclty the same mine is 88e8001 and this version is for 88e8036 but it installed fine...i'll try cable later to confirm.OK works perfectly.

-Gigastorage Texas instrument PCI driver solved when reinstalling driver with internet on.
So I'm thinking about taking the computer back...it just does'nt seem to be able to run smoothly under xp...maybe can someone help before i take it back?!

i looked at the ftp site, and the lan drivers are, i assume, catagorized by model number. i have a vgnn325e, and there doesnt appear to be that model number on the site....or am i missing it?

Guys I assume you have read the previous posts on running the Intel Chipset Identification Utility to find out the correct drivers for your VAIO?

No there is none for vgn.I agree.
The only thing that was'nt running was modem driver.I tried all 3 at Conexant website but they did'nt work so I tried original for Vista on Sony's website, did'nt work either.

-So surfed the web and fund this on a french forum:

http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-3115655-probleme-vaio-vgn-...mn-b-de

-If you click on the link in the second reply(third message)it starts a dowload for a xp downgrade driver pack.

-I opened the modem driver file and clicked on the HXS setup icon...now all it does i get the pc busy for 2-3 seconds figured it did'nt work, all of these HXS setup I tried did nothing...opened device manager and there it is modem driver totaly installed and working.

-Took me 2 days and a major headache but now everything is installed and running

So now I need a good audio interface to see what it's capable of recording audio in Sonar6 and if it's stable.
