defragmentator stopped working

Post subject: defragmentator stopped working

hii friends ,
my desktop configured with windows xp from some days ago, I am having
problem with defragmentator when I starts disk defragmentator it opens
but ,it niether analyzes the disk Nor drgragement -it says
"defragmentator coulld not open" .
what should i do ? to solve the problem
I had restored system to previous one but nothing happens.
In addition to that at the start on black screen for few seconds it
shows "boot.ini" file not valid and then "booting from c:windows"
Is my system infected with maleware?
I had quick heal anti virus plus 2009
please tell the solution for this problem

You're infected. I hope you didn't pay for "anti virus plus 2009"
because that's what infected you.
