antivirus 2009

Post subject: antivirus 2009

I have this popping up like crazy and totally taking over my conmputer!!
I have ran my antivirus (AVG Cool, I have ran "spy-bot", I have ran "pest
patrol",
I have ran "PCBug doctor"....but nothing seems to help.
does anyone know how to rid a system of this? I have also went into
add/remove programs and its not in there....
HELP!! thanks.....pennie

Malwarebytes did a good job of removing this on a few systems here at work.

Run a thorough scan by doing the following steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

Agreed - I tried the (possibly) better known spyware/malware software with
no luck (Spybot, Adaware etc).
Malwarebytes did it for me - but ISTR that there was a procedure to follow
which included stopping some services before scanning and turning off the PC
(at the off button) once the malware had been deleted (it comes back in the
shut-down process otherwise).
Don't ask me where to find the procedure though.

Phil,
If you are referring to usage of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), there is NO procedure that calls for turning off the PC !
Nor for turning off services.

In the cases where malware re-appears, the need is for the victim to get guided help, and to run a series of tools, not just one or even two.

Search on Malware bytes anti malware. It will most likely resolve your issue.
