Post subject: XP Pro Recovery Console Password Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)
My password is not working at the prompt for password in the recovery mode
with the XP CD.
Null will not work either.
Any suggestions? Keep in mind I windows will not load in any mode, nor can I
just get a prompt.

Here are two sites with info on creating a bootable CD that will allow you to
reset the Administrator password.

If this PC came with XP pre-installed, then the vendor (e.g., Dell, Gateway)
may have set a non-blank password. Contact their support group.

may be you should reset it with a third party tool.
try windows password reset 6.0
