Suddenly all my windows open minimized, not full screened. I have tried
pulling the window to full screen using the lower right hand corner, have
clicked on the maximize button and then closed the windew so the size would
be remembered, with no results.
Is there a place I can go to check mark this option to open all windows
maximized?

1. Resize such a window (don't maximize it).
2. Close all other windows.
3. Close the re-sized window.
The re-sized window must be the last window close for the its size to be
remembered.

Thank you for this suggestion. It works for folders and files on my hard
drive, however, it won't work for internet shortcuts. In other words, when I
go Yahoo stock quotes, or my bank site using the shortcut on my desktop, it
is minimazed. I resized it and quit all other windows (the shortcut) and
closed the internet window, yet when I went back to it, it was again
minimized.
Am I doing something wrong??

The shortcut may point to a page with a hard-coded, smaller size. You might
try:

With IE shortcuts, you can right-click, click Properties, set the "Run:"
pane to "Maximized".
For IE instances opened from links within email and web sites, open one
IE window, drag the edges till it's the preferred size, nearly
maximized, then close the window. Also try closing the window while
pressing the Ctrl key. Usually this will help Windows remember the
preferred size. It'll be changed occasionally, when a popup window is
opened with specific size, and you'll have to do this again. Another
suggestion:
- Open a webpage. Stretch it out to full size. Don't use maximize.
- Choose any link on that webpage and right-click, open in a new window.
- Stretch that second window out to the desired size; don't use
maximize. You can enter this line though:
javascript:moveTo(0,0);resizeTo(1024,768)
(or whatever your screen resolution)
- Close the first IE window. Then close that second resized window.

To get maximized windows from Desktop and QL shortcuts, create a few
shortcuts to your browser on your Desktop, or Quick Launch bar, then
edit the shortcuts:
2. After adding the internet address, change the "Run:" pane to "Maximized".
(That will make those shortcuts open IE maximized.) There's also
software available that will switch opened windows to the maximized
condition. Here's one:

Post subject: IE shortcuts won't open maximized [Login to view extended thread Info.]
After months of dealing with this myself with NO luck with internet searches and everybody elses resolutions I decided to attempt to solve the problem myself. What I discovered is so very simple. The problem is not draging the corners to the edge of the screen and holding don the shift key or the ctrl key and exiting. The problem is in the file association table. In windows XP and Vista there is for some reason TWO Explorers, one I found is used for exclusivly for the shortcuts so you can specify the icon and all the rest MUST direct to the active version of internet Explorer on the computer, in my case it was IE 7.
Just go to File Types, in XP you can find it in "Folder Options" in Vista you will find it in "Default Programs" Then change ALL file associasions for internet explorer to the location of "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explorer.exe" at this point all shortcut icons on the desktop of Vista will change to IE icon. Now right click and select "open with" and select default program of internet explorer with the "House" icon for Vista. In XP this extra step is not needed.
Once this is done, ALL IE shortcuts will open maximized. Problem for me was solved...

Post subject: Windows always open minimised [Login to view extended thread Info.]
Thanks RDrennan
I have been trying to fix this for months.
All screens open maximised now.
It started when I chose to open two windows side by side.
You have been a great help.
In my vista it is iexplore.
When it was fixed I got a message saying that Internet Explorer is not my default browser. I said NO to making it my default and ticked the DO NOT HOW THIS MESSAGE again box.
I suspect that, as you say, there are two Internet Explorers on here. Probably one is Microsoft and the other could be the OEM version of the same.
