Post subject: Unwanted Copy Error Message At Startup

I couldn't remember where I saw a post on the exact same problem I have been having that is driving me mad. What I DO remember are the two solutions that were suggested and the fact that neither one works for me!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

My problem, which just appeared this morning, is this. When I start my mputer, the desktop and icons on it appear correctly or normal and nothing is wrong. A few seconds after the icons appear on the Desktop, a window appears. It has Copy on the title bar, no close button, and a message in the window that says: "Please wait while Windows configures Copy". Below these words is a bar showing the progress in time and a Cancel button.

As the status bar showing the time remaining begins to "color" in, all of a sudden a second window displays. This second window also has the word Copy in the title bar, does have close button, and shows an "Internal Error 2908" message in it. Below these words are curly braces that enclose a 32-digit/letter combination.

Now, here is where it gets outright infuriating!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil If I click on the close button on the title bar of this second window, all that happens is that another window with the same title bar and Internal Error 2908 message instantly appears. What is different is the number/letter combination within the curly braces. Click on the OK button instead of the close button this time, and a third window with yet another number/letter combination appears in a third Copy and Internal Error 2908 message window.

After about a dozen or so clicks on the close OR OK button of the Copy window with the error message number in it, now a THIRD window with Copy and a close button in the title bar shows up. This one says: "Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'hpqcmctl,Version="3.0.0.0",PublicKeyToken="A53CF5803F4C3827",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="5.35.0.69".
Please refer to Help and Support (???) for more information. HRESULT:0x8002802F."

Close this third window and the first window attempts all over again to do whatever the **** it is talking about and within a second two stops, the second window once again appears and the loop begins all over again.

Now, here's the worst part of the nightmare for me. I know how to use the Control Panel to uninstall programs or delete hardware. My computer is running Windows XP Professional with SP2, 32-bit version, for the OS. Well, I DID delete the HP OfficeJet 4215 all-in-one device from the "Printers and Other Hardware" window of the Control Panel. I also uninstalled all except one software component of the OfficeJet. The one that still remains is the "Software Update" one. When I attempt to uninstall this, I get another error message about it being used by another something (for some reason, now that link has suddenly become "dead" just when I need it) that is trying to install .... so I can't uninstall the Update feature.

In addition, when I run the Registry Edit program, navigate to the only HP folder that remains and see a single file in the right pane, the same error message pops up when I try to delete the file. So, uninstalling the device has not worked and neither has trying to delete what suspect might be the problem folder/file in the Registry. What the hell am I supposed to do, now?? Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

After an hour, literally, on the phone with eight different MS customer service and tech support people, and calling four different numbers I was given, I just couldn't stand not being able to get any help any longer. Oh, and by the way, only ONE of these people could speak understandable English!! Mad Mad Next, I called the IT Department at Amarillo College here in Amarillo, Texas, where I am a student. Same result, no solution, no help.

Next, I spent about five hours scouring every place I could find or think of on the Web. Again and again, and on and on it went. Almost no help, but no solution that worked for me. Finally, totally burnt out and disgusted, I discovered the only thing that allows me to restart my computer only to see the whole insane cycle start again - just (literally) unplug the damn computer, since I can't stop the infinite loop hanging up the computer or actually shut it down any other way. Also, I have disconnected every cable and plug on the HP OfficeJet.

Is there any one or more of you who can save my computer and my sanity, seriously?? I pray and hope so, and wait for your answer. Thank you for listening to me; I just thought it best to give all the details I could.

2 things come to mind:

1) a virus or spyware. I'd suggest trying this free, online scan of your system to ensure that the system is clean.

2) remove that HP thingie in Safe Mode. If that fails, then find the file names involved and use a program like KillBox to remove them on boot. Then get rid of the HP entries in your directory structure and registry (backing them up first! - HP does have some software that affects DVD writing on some PC's).
