On tyding up my 'D' drive, which is used only for Photos and music etc, i
found the following folders with long file names. 2 of which appear to refer
to Windows installer and dotnet and the other to Windows drivers for OEM
printers. I cant recall ever downloading these unless they came from windows
update, but i wonder why they are in ' D' drive rather than 'C', Would i be
in order to deletes these of move them to the 'C' drive., Im running Windows
XP Home, SP3.
Files Nos:- ea2718b178413c03e88179.
1e18f8b269cf11ec662c45314f5888
7f736447227ce74952658ba97556859.
Thanks in anticipation

When MS installs things (like updates), it will create a temporary
folder with random numbers and letters on the partition with the most
free space. It sounds like in your case, that would be your D drive,
yes?
I forget the number of characters, but I think it is 25ish.
After the install is complete, they are not needed. Sometimes there
are remnants in the folders that will tell you what installation
needed a temporary folder.
You would be in order to delete them.
They are usually deleted when the installation completes or on the
next reboot, but sometimes they are not so you can delete them
manually. Sometimes booting in Safe Mode is needed to delete the
stubborn ones.
