This step-by-step guide will show you how to rip general DVD (copy-protected included) and convert, trim, combine and edit video on Mac OS X (Leopard Supported) and Windows OS.
Part 1:Rip DVD movie to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Mac
Part 2:Convert AVI, WMV, MPEG, RM, RMVB, ASF, MOV, DivX, XviD, MPG, etc to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Mac
Part 3:Rip DVD movie to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Windows
Part 4:Convert AVI, WMV, MPEG, RM, RMVB, ASF, MOV, DivX, XviD, MPG, etc to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Windows

It is easy-to-use and the converting speed is fast! After testing, all formats conversions work well, the output audio and image quality is excellent! Let's view the steps.

Part 1: Rip DVD movie to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Mac
Step 1. Download the latest version DVD Converter Suite for Mac and install it. You can download about it by referring DVD Converter Suite for Mac here. Insert your DVD disc into DVD drive, then run the software, click “Load DVD” button to import the DVD file. You can also load DVD folders from your hard drive by clicking “Load IFO”, DVD folders files name appear like "Video_TS”

Tips: This software supports converting by selecting chapters or customizes conversion time. If you just want certain part of the DVD movie, you can check the chapters you want or trim the movie.

Step 2. This software can convert DVD to various video formats such as MP4, MPEG, AVI, M4V, MOV, 3GP, MPG, FLV, etc. Click the “Profile” drop down list to select a format you want.

Tips: If you don’t know much about video formats, you can select a format according to the name of your portable player. For example, you can select “iPod Touch MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” when you want to rip DVD movie for iPod Touch, and the default setting works great. This software also includes the DVD Audio Ripper function, so you can extract audio from DVD movie to MP3 or AAC for web using or other portable player.

If you want to customize the output video quality, you can click the “Settings” button next to the format field to open the Settings window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. See the figure below:



Step 3. Select Subtitle and Audio
Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same.



After the above steps, click “Start” to start conversion. When the conversion finished, you can click “Open” to locate the file in your hard drive.

Part 2:Convert AVI, WMV, MPEG, RM, RMVB, ASF, MOV, DivX, XviD, MPG, etc to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Mac
Step 1. Download the latest version DVD Converter Suite for Mac and install it. You can download about it by referring DVD Converter Suite for Mac here. Click the "Add" button to import your videos. This Video Converter for Mac support batch conversion, so you can import multiple files at a time.

Step 2. This software can convert video to various video formats for iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, cell phone, etc. Click the “Format” drop-down list to select the format you prefer for each added file. If you don’t know what formats your device supports, you can just select the format according to the device name.

If you want to customize the output quality, click the “Settings” button to open the Settings panel, where you can set resolution, frame rate, video bit rate, audio bit rate, sample, etc. Since Aimersoft Video Converter for Mac supports batch conversion, you can use different profiles for the added video files to save your time. If you don’t want to do these settings, the default settings will just work perfectly.



Step 3. After the above steps, click “Start” to start conversion. When the conversion finished, you can click “Open” to locate the file in your hard drive.

Part 3: Rip DVD movie to iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Zune, PSP, etc on Windows
1. Download the latest version Ultimate DVD Video Converter Suite, and install it. You can know more about it by referring DVD Converter Suite here.

2. Run the Ultimate DVD Converter, load your DVD by clicking 'Open DVD' button or choosing 'Open DVD' from 'File' drop down menu. One or several titles appear in the list after loading DVD.

3. Profile select. You can choose other video formats: iPod, iPhone, iPod touch, iPod video nano, Zune, PSP, video capable MP3 players, video capable mobile phones, Pocket P.C and so on. iPod MPEG4 Movie(.mp4) is the default DVD for iPod video quality. Set the appropriate format as you like.



4. Output settings. Set your Audio/Video output Settings and tick appropriate parameters.

5. Choose the pathname where you want to save your video files by clicking the right button of Output table. When everything is setted well, click the 'Convert' button to start converting.

Tips:
Tip1: Crop---- Choose the crop mode
Tip2: Resize-------Choose the output size you need
Set Crop to "Crop both black bands" and resize to be "stretch to full screen" if you don't need to keep the subtitle.
Set crop to "Crop the upper black band" so you can keep the subtitle in the down black band.

Tip3: Mode
Direct mode, you can convert the main movie directly.
Batch mode, you can choose the chapter you need to convert.

I still prefer using Clone2go DVD to iPod Ripper, which enables me to rip various dvd's (including css protected) and convert videos in various formats (including YouTube video) to ipod mp4 video. This pretty good DVD and video to iPod converter works like a champ!
