I have a long video (over 30 mins) and when I put it in the timeline, it only
displays 15 mins of time in the preview pane. I can manually scroll in the
preview pane and see the rest of my movie, but when I go to edit it is very
difficult cos the timeline only shows 15mins. Can anyone offer some
assistance?

Do you know the format of the video clip?

Maybe you could add the "Slow Down Half"
video effect.

I have added it as an mpg file (having come straight from vob). But since
then i have tried adding it as an avi and wmv and it is working ok, so I'll
see how I go from here...

For interest sake where can i find the slow down half effect & what does it
do?

The .mpg file was your problem:

Have a look at the following articles:

File type compatibility with Movie Maker
http://tinyurl.com/v8tee
or...
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/File_type_compatibility.htm

Which file type should I use in Movie Maker?
http://tinyurl.com/6n66g3
or...
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/WhichFileTypeInMov...aker.ht

In movie maker the Effects are accessed
in the Collections pane on the left of your
screen...or at...Tools / Video Effects

In WinXP Movie Maker version 2.1 the
slow down half effect insures that all frames
are displayed and the clip is played at half
speed.
