I don't mean launching when Windows starts up, I mean how do I stop it from
automatically connecting me in when my computer comes out of sleep mode
and/or I launch it... I generally keep it at "appear Offline", but any time I
wake my computer back up it automatically connects and puts me back in as
"Online", and I'd just like it to mind it's own freaking business, and not
connect until I actually do something to tell it too.

Greetings Matt,

What version of Messenger are you using? If you're using Windows Live Messenger, it should
automatically reconnect you with the correct status after coming out of sleep (the old
Windows Messenger does not).

I have tried to find info on keeping Windows Live Messenger from launching
whenever I boot my PC. I don't want it to start until I am ready. Can I do
that? Also is there a way to stop the advertisement at the bottom of the Live
Messenger screen and also stop the pop-up window that comes up after Windows
Live Messenger starts.
