Post subject: Recovering from a CHKDSK /F problem in Windows XP
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

CXHi all, was defragging one of my NTFS drives and got an error message that
said I should run CHKDSK /F on the drive. I did that and it said some file
handles were in use and asked me if I wanted to unmount the drive. I said
yes, and it notified of fixing some errors on the disk. Since then, the disk
has become inaccessible (it is not the boot disk).

In Disk Manager, it is shown as "unformatted". In Paragon Hard Disk Manager
it is shown as having no file system. I can still see my data on the disk
when I use the partition explorer, so it has not been wiped.

However, following Microsoft site advice, I ran CHKDSK /F again and now it
is "Correcting a minor error in file XXXX" for every file on the hard disk.

Is there any way to recover from this? I have tried many options but have
not had any success.
