You might want to ask your question in a newsgroup dedicated to Linux
advocacy or Ubuntu. I think you'll find a number of responders who will be
more than happy to share their views on the shortcomings of Windows XP.

That all depends on the yardstick. The phrase "pros and cons of Windows
XP" is very vague!
Pros and cons of using Windows XP instead of Windows Vista?
Pro: If user already is familiar with XP, if he or she stays with it, he
or she will not need to learn a new system. Also you don't need to have
as much RAM.
Con: Over time, more software and hardware will require Vista to be
installed. I believe Vista is more secure (or more idiot-proof?) than
XP.
Pros and cons of using Windows XP instead of Linux?
Pro: There is more software (I believe) written for Windows. Most of the
business world uses Windows.
