Post subject: Opening a movie dvd in XP that was burned in Vista Add to elertz Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>video (more info?)
I shot some video of my dad on his JVC Everio GZ-MG330 camera. I downloaded
the video from the JVC camcorder's hard drive to his Windows Vista computer
hard drive using Cyberlink software that came with the camera. I then burned
a dvd of the video to bring home to my computer. When I tried to open the
dvd on my Windows XP computer, I got an error message saying either the disc
is corrupt or that it is in a format that is not compatible with Windows.
The disc will open on my dad's computer, so it is not corrupt. I have the
same Cyberlink software on my XP computer that my dad has on his Vista
computer. (I also have the same jvc camcorder.)
Can dvd's that are burned in Vista be opened on an XP computer? If so, is
there a special setting I must use when I burn the dvd from Vista? If
opening a dvd burned in Vista on an XP computer is not usually a problem, can
you think of another reason that XP computer could not open or even view the
dvd files?

Is this a Data DVD or a Video DVD?
Did you create it using Windows DVD Maker
which is included with Vista Home Premium
and Vista Ultimate?
