My money is on failing electronics in the monitor control circuitry. You
might try fiddling with the monitor buttons, widen and recenter the
screen, and possibly change the refresh rate, to make it look better.
But I think you have a repair or replace issue there.

Can you hook up the monitor to another PC/Laptop? If the
problem goes away on the other PC/Lap-top, then it's a SW
issue, if the same error (bar to the right) is still there
then its certainly time for a new monitor. I got a
flat-panel Monitor lemon (almost 2 years ago) and I had to
bring in the sucker for repair 4 times. At the last occasion
I took pics to show the "technicians" the error. It was only
then they replaced a "power-strip" whatever that was/is.

Hi Bob I
I am beginning to think along the same lines.
I did find the 'adjustment' feature to which Cari referred - it was in
ConPanel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Plug & Play Monitor/GeForce 6800GS.
However, I could not shift that blank/black bar out of the way - the right
arrow did not work - left/up/down worked fine.
I will give it a few more days - still waiting for some feedback - what
would us simple folk do without MS newsgroups - always an instant reply.
It has been a lifesaver for me over the last five years.
If there is a fix I will certainly update this thread.

adjustments from within Windows. The monitor knobs will need to be
played with.

Funny you should mention Refresh Rate - was suggested from another quarter -
all that does is give me a smaller paler screen with a blank area running
across the top as well as down the right side.
Despite trying to move any window to the right or up with the Plug and Play
adjustments and hours of fiddling with the monitor buttons, I am afraid
matters have not improved.

be able to replace the failing components. Cost will depend on their

As the monitor is a CRT, I am getting a TV man to look at it.
