Post subject: MS VPN Client and local access Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)
My company is a unix house but we have a client which runs on Windows
XP. Users connect to our site with MS VPN client and out software.
However, when they do this, they can't connect to systems on their LAN,
such as their Outlook Server.
I know there is split tunnel routing but don't like the security issues
caused. Is there any other solution for them?

Can you rework your service so that your customers don't have to use VPN to
connect? Maybe Terminal Server?

Thanks for the effort.

My bad, I read your original post too quickly (airport lounge, fast
newsgroup scan before flight, blah blah, heh). You're a Unix house -- missed
that before.
Nevertheless, it still isn't a good idea to expect your customers to adjust
their own LAN routing. What kinds of applications in your network does your
Windows-based customer access? Can they work over something like VNC?

Thank you for your effort. I know how easy it is to go off in the
direction you are heading and I know it is the obvious direction to go
to given the situation. I was just here for the one thing.
