I installed KB911567 2 wks ago when the Last Review date was over 6
wks ago. Its history goes back at least to 12/06. How long does it
take MS to get their act straight?

Just spent 1 week cleaning up the mess WUpdate made preventing

Did you know that you can set the Automatic Updates to only alert you when
an update is available? You can also set Automatic Updates to only download
but not install. Then you can select "Custom" and pick which updates to
install on your system.

d00d! 911567 was released in Apr-06. 923694 was released in Dec-06,
supersedes 911567, and /fixes/ the "saved template" bug!
Should you choose not to keep your machine fully patched (i.e., running
outdated and much less-secure versions of OE, IE and Windows), the following
patch will fix your "saved template" problem:

Greetings & thank you for your response.
Yea I started at Custom then to filtering so I gave MS & guinea pigs
6-8 wks to catch errors. This wont help MS deliberately decreasing
functionality for hypothetical threats.
Thanks- bye- Larry

Never did 911567 & 923694 wasnt fixed when I installed 2 wks ago. Was
923694 improved 911567 , they seem to address same thing or 1 is
subset of the other.

I want MS to tell upfront, not halfway down 3rd page click , that
patch reduces functionality . Alot of work fixing Update messes given
I have 2nd XP with no updates after SP2 & BOTH get a trojan every 3
yrs which require much less work to fix than 3 yrs of WUpdates. Both
OS'a r imaged too.
Comments/suggestions/corrections appreciated.
Thanks- bye- Larry

923694 and 911567 were Cumulative Updates for OE, so the former supersedes
(includes everything and addresses bugs in) the latter.
To enable the Hotfix that corrects the behavior, see the "Registry
Information" section of 918766, beginning with "To enable this hotfix, edit
the registry by following these steps".

Greetings PA Bear & thank you for your response.
Sorry that my last post was screwed-up. I think my cat must have
walked over my Keyboard
I solved problem by uninstalling KB911567 & may do same with other 7
updates since I get secutity warning when opening 'packages' in RTF
files that contain gif's I created. IMHO WUpdate is more damn trouble
than its worth!
http://tinyurl.com/34yuw6 in 7/03 was a similar problem when I 1st
advocation waiting 6 weeks for MS to correct errors in updates. I
guess that isnt long enuf even 4 yrs later.
Your help is MUCH appreciated tho. I do realise this is out of ur or
any MVP's control.
