Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>print_fax (more info?)

I have been trying to get my printer to install but it has failed many times.
I have followed the instructions given with the driver disk and I have also
plugged it in and let windows find and try to instal the driver automatically
as well as installing the printer manually through the printer wizard. Each
time I tried I got the same error.

I have noticed that this problem has occured in the past with me and I had
to reinstall win xp and install the printer at the very beginning cause when
win xp is fully updated I encounter the printer error.

I am running Windows XP SP3
No viruses, spyware, or other malware has been found
The printer is a HP Deskjet 3650
If anyother information is needed, just ask.

Blitz all traces of printer drivers as per:
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Download a new set of driver software from:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&lan...n&dlc=e

Install the software and do NOT connect the printer to the PC until it tells
you to do so.

Thanks for your reply!
When I tried to find any drivers in the printers and fax area there is
nothing therefor me to delete. I tried the cleanspl.exe and it prompted me
to decide if I wanted to delete the standard tcp/ip and BJ language monitor
which I didn't delete but it also asked if I wanted to delete something else
which I said yes to and some usb monitor which I said no to. Was I suposed
to delete that usb monitor too? After it finished and restarted I tried to
reinstall it like you asked and it failed again with the same error.

Ok, I did precisely as you stated and I still have the same error. By the
way, I don't have anything that's a Cannon. In the past when I actually got
this HP printer to work on this computer I installed it after a fresh install
of XP(with SP2) and before I installed my motherboard drivers. My
motherboard is an XFX 780i. Do you think the problem could originate there
or maybe somewhere around installing SP3? This isn't the first time I have
had problems with this computer. I had problems with installing .net 1.1
which prevented me from installing office 2007. I finally resorted to doing
a fresh install of XP(SP2) which fixed that but then on one of the last
updates through Windows Update it wouldn't allow that update and kept
failing. I fixed that problem by reregistering the windows update like
stated in a tutorial provided my Microsoft and it has worked fine afterwards.
Seems like new problems keep popping up in different places...
