I just installed FS X. I get "The MSXML 4 SP 2 component is not installed.
Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair this missing
component." I have gone through the repair and also verified that msxml4.dll
is installe and registered. How can it get this game to run? Rig is XP Home
SP2, 2.4Ghz Dell, 1GB ram. I also have msxml 6 installed and registry has
entries for versions 2 and 3.

Before you install it however, you might want to check
your add-remove programs menu to uninstall any previous
version(s) which may cause or be causing this conflict, like
that version 6 for example...

I tried uninstalling msxml6 and reinstalling msxml4 sp2. No help. FSX has
an msxml.manifest file (written in xml) that seems to detail what version
they are looking for. Not sure what it does, but the version details listed
in that are of a lower revision number than the msxml sp2 that actually gets
installed. This means that the FSX guys assumed that MS would not update the
msxml4.dll, or that they made no provisions for any updates. Why they heck
they would write any program that is tied into a specific version of xml,
which is obviously still evolving (re: xml 6) is beyond me. Others are
having the same problem, as evidenced by google searches. One cannot
download the same exact version of the MS site as is noted in the .manifest
file. The really annoying thing is that I cannot find FS X specific support
from MS. Is this the place? They have a site that seems mostly blogs and
ads for extras, but they shy away from support. I have run earlier versions
of FS, am a pilot, and would like to get this toy running. BTW, I also
installed the SP1 to FSX. No joy there either.
