I'm not sure I'm at the right place, but this is my problem.

I am running Windows XP Professional on both my desktop PC and on my laptop.
Connected to my PC is a Linksys BEFSX41 VPN router. I have enabled Remote
Administration and have left the default port 8080. Using the follow line in
Internet Explorer on my laptop--http://(the internet ip address of my
PC):8080, but cannot connect to my router. Others can use the same command
and connect to my routher without a problem. My PC and my laptop are on
different networks, that is they have different internet IP addresses.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Apparently I cannot telnet my router. Here is how I tried. On my desktop, I
enabled DMZ on both my linksys WRT54G wireless router and my Linksys BEFSX41
VPN router, which supposedly opens all the ports on both routers. On my
laptop I went to the command prompt and typed telnet 79.123.34.2, pressed
Enter and got no connection.

When I put both computers on the same network, I can ping my routher at
192.168.1.1 and my computer at 192.168.1.102.

You may just try to enable remote administration without enabling DMZ or
enable DMZ pointing to the router without enabling remote administration.
