Condemned: Criminal Origins for PC will not work! Help!

I have Plextor DVDR PX 76OA dvd and cd-rom drive. It plays a CD just fine but
when I insert the DVD-Rom there is absolutely no response. There is a only a
brief icon that the disc is being read but it disappears. I have tried to
enable autorun and have typed in autorun.exe in the Start-> Run menu but the
message I have been getting is ""Windows cannot find "autorun.exe" Make sure
you typed the name correctly, then try again.""
I have followed the Troubleshooter and everything but it really has not
proved to be of any use as I downloaded a free codec (FFDshow--don't know how
bad or good it is, as I am only a girl and know the very basic computer
stuff) and still nothing. I have turned off my antivirus program as
instructed and still.. I went to the website canirunit.com and I meet all the
requirements to play this game. I even tried to uninstall and re-install my
driver. I have more than enough free hard disc space to run the game and the
game played fine in my friend's computer so it is not the game. Please help
me, I seem to have followed all the steps!

Looks like you need a new drive, they are cheap so a new one will not hurt
much.
