hi, i have a few problems. 1) When i try to turn off my computer it won't. I
end up having to hold the on/off button down to shut it down. 2) When i try
turning it on sometimes everything on the desktop is all on one side (left
side and the right side has two black lines going up and down). 3) Sometimes
when screen freezes up when try to open a program. When this happens i can't
turn off my computer.
I own a Toshiba Satellite M45 with Windows XP Home Edition at least that's
what i bought. When i tried to us the cd that came with it, it said that it
wasn't for Satellite A40.

You have hardware issues. Contact Toshiba tech support for
repair/replacement. When you speak to them, tell them what happened with
the recovery disk.

This am i had problems. My computer apparently did not shut down last nite;
the monitor had my email opened and when I attempted to end the task some
reason it disturb some program. However, my concern is whether or not
someone is trying to remotely access my computer without my consent. I turn
this off, but would like to know how to track if someone previously dial in
to my email account. I separated from my previous job and have not changed
my user name and password. Is there some where in the system where I can
retrieve this information. I need time and date and the user name
Thanks

Are you the Original Poster using a different name? It would seem not.

I think BestBuy's GeekSquad is dreadful. I have first-hand experience with
this from fixing clients' machines after GeekSquad had worked on the
computers. Read about GeekSquad on www.consumerist.com if you want to see a
lot of other reasons why. However, if you have insurance with them, I
suppose you should use it. Back up your data first!
