I cannot get a Compaq Presario V2000 running Windows XP Home to run a
1280x768 resolution as the manual says that it will. It will not go above
1024x768. I have tried installing the drivers on the HP site, but they do not
work. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Do you have more than one display enabled ? The manual suggests there
is an option for S-video (which may or may not be present), as well
as a VGA connector for an external display. If you put the graphics
subsystem into a "clone" mode, where the output was copied to both
S-video (for a TV set) and to the main screen, the TV output might
cap the combined resolution setting at 1024x768. Otherwise, you
should be able to operate the display at its native resolution.
