WIN XP SP3.

I am sure that my internal Lite On DVD/RW Combo, is showing signs of
collapse/fatigue.
Could somebody please help me to confirm whether or not the currently
installed piece of hardware interface is SATA/IDE or E-IDE/ATAPI .
I know that when I first switch on my computer, one of the flash screens
shows 'no ide detected' or similar - it is so fast and gone in a second.
I have looked in System Prop/Hardware/Devices Manager and
under DVD/CD-ROM drives it shows 'Lite-on DVDRW SHW-1635S. In
Properties/Details I can see IDE\CDROMLITEON.
However, under IDE ATA/ATPI controllers, there are SATA storage controllers
and Primary/secondary IDE channels.
I would like to make sure I buy the correct DVD Combo.

It says that model number is IDE, on this site. Check for a
ribbon cable plugged into the back of it, and a four pin
Molex power connector plugged into it.

Hello Paul
Thank you for your reply and the link - I see it does confirm IDE.
However I will open up the case and take a look at the cables.
I did a dozen or more searches of sites and could not find one with the
Interface info - all said 'no longer stocked' - mind you, they were UK sites
Smile
