Ok- not realizing there would be so many versions of wireless decices with
this same problem I incorrectly used one of the fixes list here for wrong
adapter.
If you follow this link to the dlink driver ftp index, you can find the
exact adapter you have and download.

I think I will also have to use windows defender to get rid of the problem.

I sent Dlink a mail as well but while awaiting a reply.
Until that unforseen point in time,
could you make it more CLEAR to a newbie like me, whether you found a
sollution to the problem, does the windows defender trick work?

Hi all
I had the same problem, and after looking through a number of forums, I
found there was a very quick and easy solution to the error messages at
this site:
'The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in
the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll' (http://tinyurl.com/aquaft)
It solved the problem, but it's suspiciously straightforward. I guess
I'll have to wait and see if my computer explodes in a couple of days.

The AirGCFG.exe problem is a known problem with wireless NIC cards and SP3.
The NIC card manufacturers have not been willing to update their drivers to fix this.
Disableing the NIC monitoring software (AirGCFG) covers the problem, but does not solve it.
If you don't have Windows Defender (recommended) to access their startup control,
you can use MSCONFIG.
Go to START-RUN and type in
msconfig
Then open the Startup tab and uncheck the items you do not want to startup when Windows starts up.
