hi a friend of mine is having a few problems with his pc and what he has
told me is he would like to start his pc back to when he first bought
it.
he is running norton anti virus and he told me he tried to uninstall
the program and he thinks this could be the problem because after he
re-installed norton and since then he cant seem to use any programs on
pc i.e skype ect ect...
so what he wants to do is start pc from when he bought it if possible
but he does`nt have a copy of vista/xp and as iam unsure what to suggest
could someone please advise as what he can do.

If his Vista came preinstalled on his computer he probably is supposed to
use the recovery software in a hidden recovery partition to restore to
factory condition. On my wife's HP laptop the recovery software is started
by pressing F11 while the computer is first starting up. See if his system
works the same way. Or go on the mfg's website to see how it is done. Help
him make a recovery dvd afterwards. Those instructions will also be on the
website and in the Help and Support Center on his computer.
