Post subject: problem sending email Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>mail (more info?)
As of about 2 weeks ago, I am no longer able to send outgoing email with
Windows mail. Before that it worked just fine. I have tried double
checking all my settings for the DSL service and everything looks okay.
I have tried disabling portions of my Trend Antivirus and that also did
not correct the problem. We are receiving email without fail, but cannot
send. The message I get is:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection"
I am running on a stand alone system at home with no network and no wi
fi.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am beyond frustrated!

Your problem is most likely caused by your antivirus.
Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall.
Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
aggressive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

I also have a similar problem, in that my Outlook all of a sudden has just
stopped working and I have checked that the server requires authentification.
I have Norton Anti virus could this be impacting my emails?
Please help me

It is possible that Norton antivirus is affecting your Outlook.
However, we generally don't discuss Outlook issues in this newsgroup
which is dedicated to the Windows Mail program.
You will get more help by posting that question in the Outlook newsgroup:
