Thanks for your help, but it's not the boot indicator that is causing me
problems. The Vista BCD points to the XP partition for Windows boot
manager and windows memory testor, and I know of no way to change those
silly settings inside the BCD. I have 2 BCD editors and they only allow me
to change the location of the boot loader. So no matter what I do, when I
take the XP partition away, Vista can't boot.

The reason is really that the bootindicator points to your old XP
partition. Believe it or not, if you change the bootindicator,
your ptoblem is over. The bootindicator sends 'him' to the
partition where he starts from.

Even when the partition is not there - erased? removed from the partition
table?
In any case, I've played with it enough. I'm part way in to a full
re-install. Thanks for your time.

Changing the bootindicator can help you, but do what you like.

I did look for your program, but couldn't find it. Provbably didn't look
far enough. I do appreciate your help and time on this. Sorry I didn't
understand.....
