Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>installation_setup (more info?)

Hi, Currently I use Windows XP Pro (32 bit) and I just received Vista
Home Basic, 64 Bit edition and I try to run it on boot..
When I run the CD on boot I get "Windows is loading files" and as soon
as the progress bar is finished I get the following page:

Windows Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be
the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. choose your language settings and then click "Next".
3. Click "Repair your computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or
computer manufacturer
file: \windows\system32\drivers\iastorv.sys
Status: 0xc0000098
info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is
missing, or corrupt

Why?

Thanks Smile

What CPU do you have in your system and how much main memory does it have?

When you say you tried to install it on boot are you saying that it is an
upgrade copy of Vista Home Basic and that you booted from the installation
DVD and selected to upgrade your SP Pro installation or did you do something
else?

What makes you think your system is 64-bit capable?

Hi,

> Why?

Because this file:

> file: \windows\system32\drivers\iastorv.sys

is either corrupt, an incorrect version, or incompatible with the system
hardware. This a storage driver, so your best bet would be to load an
appropriate driver file from the manufacturer during setup (at the point
where you choose the installation volume) rather than relying on ones
available in Vista.

Did you check that this system is Vista compatible?

When people take the time to try to help - even if they were unable to
help - it's nice to come back and tell everyone what fixed the problem.
