Making Windows Media Player Universal

Running "regsvr32 wmp.dll" will break file associations, of course, so it's
really not recommended that you do that. That is something that you should
only do on Windows XP.

The latter suggestion of Default Programs was what should work when another
application has munged the player's associations.

You should clarify what is happening when you click on media files - what
badness is happening?
