Have you tried to eject using the context menu for the drive in Computer?

Did you ask HP (it is a new machine and under warranty)? You may have a
defective unit.

Hi,

If you mean right-clicking My computer and then going to the drive that
has the disc in it and trying to eject if from there, yes, I have done
that. I was able to install my software programs with no problems and
they ejected just fine, however, it was only after I burned a DVD that I
had a problem with it being stuck in there. The disc is a DVD-R by
Maxwell.

Thanks,

MzSandy

Hi MzSandy,

See if a restart will allow you to open the drive afterwards. Sometimes
if the DVD gets stuck while finalizing, it can cause it to hang up.

If not, then shutdown the computer and unplug it to be safe and not to
damage the drive. Gently stick your thumbnail or a dull flat metal
object (butter knife) in at the top of the DVD drive and gently pry
(pull back) it open until you can gently finish pulling it open with
your fingers. Afterwards, just gently push it closed again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

There should be a tiny hole in the drive face plate near the eject button.
Straighten out a paper clip, and stick it in the hole. It should eject the
disk when you do. That's what it is there for. Good luck.

I have the same drive and under vista the same problem! Sometimes it will
eject the disk, most of the time it will not and I have to do it manually.
Under XP it works fine.
