Post subject: Another dual boot question! Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>installation_setup (more info?)
I am considering setting up a dual boot on my 64 bit Vista Ultimate beastie.
I have a total of 4 hard drives all SATA 2 all 500gb and set up as two RAID1
drives C & D. I was thinking of putting XP on D
Question: In a dual-boot install when inserting the XP CD would I need to F6
and load SATA & RAID drivers or would the install recognise the setup from
the Vista install?
The reason I ask is that I don't know how I would install the driivers as I
have no floppy drive and no floppy IDE controller on my motherboard to
install one

Hi,
XP setup would not be able to pull drivers from the Vista installation.
You'd need a floppy drive (this is the only scenario that XP supports) with
compatible versions. If your system supports booting a USB external floppy,
then you might try that. It will need to recognize the device prior to the
OS loading.
