Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)

Somehow I made changes to my Vista desktop. I did it so long ago I dont
know what I did. But it wasn't that big of a deal until now.

For some reason absolutely no icons will go on my desktop. I finally
found where they went and it was in the user's file called Desktop. And
like I said that was fine until now.

I want these icons back on my desktop and I can't figure out how to do
it. I've gone through a ton of settings and nothing has helped.

I'm hoping someone here is familiar enough with Vista to help me.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is what you want but right click on desktop - personalise -
on the left is desktop icon settings.

Try this - right click on your desktop goto to "view" and either select
"align to grid " or "auto arrange".

Hello RainNotebook,

If the other posts suggestions did not help you, then you might check
to make sure that the Desktop folder has the default location
"%USERPROFILE\Desktop" (no quotes) set for it in the registry. Option
Two in this tutorial will show you how to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Also insure "Show desktop icons" is checked.
