Post subject: Vista Home Premium x64, Windows Mail - Recommended AV/Security?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>mail (more info?)

I'm running the 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium, and we are using
Windows Mail on the 4 user accounts on this PC. I've heard that the
McAfee suite packaged with the PC actually is incompatible with Mail.

Is there a consensus on a good AV/Security Suite compatible with the 64
bit version? I've seen AVG and AVAST recommended by another moderater,
but others say some bad things about AVG.

I've heard very good things about NOD32 - anyone here with experience
with this?

Thanks in advance.

NOD32 is top-notch, if you don't mind paying for it.

Regardless of which antivirus you use, its email scanning
must be disabled, for reasons explained here:

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, because it is
less prone to suffering bad effects from intrusive antivirus programs:

Of the pay ones, NOD32 is best.
Of the free ones, Avast is adequate.
