Post subject: User folder Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)
I am not sure if this is the right place but when I got my laptop I
went to type my name in and typed in "Dou" instead of "Doug". The
user folder that was created now reads "Dou" and nothing I do will let
me change it. Is there a way to change that folder name?

No, there isn't. You'd have to create a new account with the preferred
spelling.

Hi,
The reason the User Folder name can't be changed is because once that
account name is established, Vista uses that as a reference for many, many,
many files. Too many to change all of them.

Hello Doug,
I'm sorry, but the only way to change the "C:\Users\Dou" folder is to
create a new administrator account name "Doug" and delete the old
account from with the new one. These tutorial will help show you how to
if needed.
