You responded to a very old message that now is obsolete.
It is always best to consult the latest advice first.
Microsoft has issued a fix for the stuck message problem:

I had the same problem. Are you using an AOL mail account? Try logging on to
your mail account go to "Tools" scroll down to "accounts" select "mail" then
single click on the tower icon that says "pop.aol.com (default)" to
highlight. Go to the button on the right hand side of the box that says
"properties" Click on the "server" tab. In the incoming mail it should read
"pop.aol.com" Change the outgoing mail to read "stmp.aol.com" Use no
capitals and of course, don't type in the " marks--it should look like the
pop.aol.com--just change it to say stmp.aol.com. Apparently their incoming
and outgoing servers are different and they make you chose without giving you
any direction--what a pain. If this has been helpful, post a note:-)

Although we appreciate your effort, it is better not to confuse the OP
with random advice that may or may not apply.
Thank you.
