Snipping Tool Question

I use Vista Home Premium.
I was replying to a Microsoft forum and wanted to insert a screen shot of a
message on my computer. Using the Snipping Tool, I copied the screen shot to
my Documents file and inserted it in a Word document. When I replied to the
Microsoft forum, I copied the Word document to the forum and my text
appeared, but my screen shot did not.

How can I get my screen shot (and text) to appear when I reply in a forum?

Thanks,
Jerry

If the forum is text only (as opposed to binarie or HTML) you will need
to post the pic on an on-line photo site, and put a link to the URL in
you forum post.

Attach the screenshot and forget about Word.

John –
When you say attach the screen shot, do you mean to insert it into the text
document of my forum reply? This is what I tried. I copied the screen shot
to my Documents folder and replied in text to the forum. Next, I copied my
screen shot and tried to paste it in my text reply. However, the paste
option was grayed out and not accessible. Perhaps you can give me the
sequence.

To be clear, I am able to insert the screen shot image and text in a regular
e-mail that I send. I just am not able to do it when replying to a Microsoft
forum reply.

John and Dave –
First, the forum I am trying to use is the same one I am posting you on now,
except for a different category. Your suggestions are welcomed, but I did
not think it would be that involved to do.

A short time ago, I posted a question on Microsoft’s forum. A responder
answered me using a screen shot. When I read his response, the complete text
and screen shot was there. I did not have to access any attachment or be
linked to any other Web page. It was all there in one click. I jokingly
told him, I will have to learn that technique sometime. I don’t know how he
did it.

Now, this is what I think may be a possible problem. My screen shot is
saved as a JPG file, although other files are options. When I try to insert
it into a text document, there might be a conflict and the screen shot is not
received. So, if I could figure out a way to get a text file and a JPG file
to coexist, I might have a solution.

But, again, thanks for the input.

Apparently the forum you are replying to does
not permit attachments.

The suggestion from Dave T. to upload the
file to a site on the net and post the URL may
be your best bet.

Have you tried setting up Windows Mail
to access newsgroups? Then you can attach
images the same way you do with e-mail
but be aware some newsgroups do not permit
attachments. Always ask before posting
attachments.

Windows Vista -
Accessing Newsgroups
With Windows Mail
http://tinyurl.com/3avt5q
or...
http://vistasupport.mvps.org/accessing_newsgrousp_with-windows_mail.htm

The server for the Microsoft Newgroups is:

msnews.microsoft.com

or.....

news.microsoft.com

=======================================
If you access your newsgroups with Windows Mail as I
suggested you will be able to post attachments...this is
not an option from the web based forums. It's not a big
deal...you can set this up in just a few minutes. Then it's
just like sending e-mail and you don't have to worry
about signing in every session.

And remember...always ask before posting attachments...
the rules are not the same in every newsgroup.
