Hello,
My first post here. hopefully the start of many to come not just to
solve my own problems but to help others as well..
Anyway. I have just built my new PC and have purchased Ultimate 64 OEM
to install on it. Building the machine was cake but getting Vista to
even begin installation is proving to be a real pain.
I boot from the DVD in the IDE drive and it begins "windows is loading
files..." progress bar. When it is finished the screen turns off, then
back on, but nothing is there and nothing happens. No errors - no
nothing.
unplugged my SATA drives - no change
booted up with WinPE usb :geek: and tried running the setup off the dvd
from there - failed at architecture incompatibility (x86 vs x64)
updated BIOS to latest (V1.5)
I am hovering the Buy key to order 512 of DDR2 800 for troubleshooting
my ram. Any other suggestions before I purchase that?

What version are you installing. There are some anomalies with the 64-bit
installs, especially on Intel boards. Why don't you post the specifics of
your equipment so someone with similar equipment and version can give you
some guidelines.
