desktop search can be enhanced by using additional add-ons called
ifilters I personally use several to index metadata in files and the
contents of PDF files.

the article 'here ' (http://www.build6000.com/content/view/692/1/)gives
access to a few although i don't recall seeing one specifically for
publisher. i'm sure a bit of work searching for publisher and ifilter
will find one if its available
best of luck in your search Smile

Hi, barman58.

I suppose that .pub tip was meant for me. Thank you. I'll try to follow up
on it when I get time.

Maybe I can return the favor by cleaning up the URL in your message; the
word following the link tagged along, making the URL not work right. It
should be:
http://www.build6000.com/content/view/692/1/

Don't forget the findstr command-line function. Open a command console
("DOX Box") and type findstr /?

Thanks R.C. It's too bad searching within files only works for indexed
locations. Now I have to figure out how to get every file type indexed - what
a joke. Why didn't Microsoft just leave Search as it was in XP and simply add
the instant search feature - or at least give us the option to switch to
"Classic" Search so to speak. I never find what I want with instant search
anyway.
