No you are not understanding the problem here. You need to realize that
some computer sellers put a new OS [operating system] on old hardware they
call "new" because the computer hardware was never owned by anyone. Old
hardware, computer parts and pieces, can be New and legally new but still be
old by a new operating system standard. Vista has problems with hardware
that was manufactured before Vista was released or realized. I have first
hand experince buying a "new" windows machine with old hardware. My first
Windows machine was a brand name. They put 32 bit software on 16 bit
hardware and called it a new machine. Listen to the MPV here, and go to the
person who sold you the computer. It isn't Vista, it is that Vista doesn't
work with everything that was manufactured in the past.

Doesn't matter if you love the computer [hardware]. The hardware has to
work with the software. If you hate Vista because it doesn't work, then you
more than likely you have a hardware problem. See the vendor. If you hate
Vista because you prefer XP, then find a local Guru that has XP for sale,
with an old computer, have him put XP on your new computer and throw the old
computer away. That is the only way you will legally get a copy of XP. And
be sure to get XP SP2 version. There are CD updates for XP free [or were].
That is the only way you will get all the XP security updates and fixes. XP
without the updated and fixes is not much of an OS.

If you are using a cordless mouse the screen saver will not work because it
continues to receive signal, this will fix it:
click on the link to check for updates for other windows software, if it is
present and work your way through the confirmation screens. At which point it
returns to the update and checks for other software updates.
It should show an optional update called;
Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter
download and install this update.
