My computer takes a long time to shut down and when i log back onto windows
it always tells me that windows was shut down incorrectly due to an
incompatibility with my version of windows caused by my Trend Micro PC-Cillin
Security 14 program. It offers the suggestion to go to the Trend Micro
website for updates, but there aren't any updates for it that have to do with
vista integration. So I shut off my windows firewall in order to avoid
firewall/virus software conflicts, but my computer is still having issues.
Anyone have suggestions?

Hello,
My suggestion is the opposite of what you had done. I would keep my
windows firewall on and uninstall Trend ( I had Trend too, then I
switched ). There are free antivirus programs available in the web
sites. The 2 programs I heard most often are AVAST and AVG. They are
reported to have done an excellent job. When I had Trend my laptop was
quite slow too. I'm not saying Trend is THE culprit. I'm merely making
an observation. You'll get more, much more, answers on this issue. Sit
back and wait.

Don't forget to check out Avast and Avg. Brink, one of the moderators,
recommends Avast which he said he uses. He told me Avast is free, but
requires registration every year. But absolutely free. By the way I'm
using McAfee ( not free), and I have no problem with it. But remember,
some swear by their antivirus programs, some say "dump it". Your choice.

Yeah I'm trying out AVG right now. It seems pretty popular. I'm having them
e-mail me info about how well their products work with vista and i'm using
their trial version so I can have my own opinion about it. Thanks for your
suggestions.
