Greetings,

During a lightning storm, the power failed. Upon reboot, a message indicated
that new hardware had been found. I tried getting the drivers from the
Windows XP Installation CD as well as others to no avail.

This seems related to a USB 2.0 port? However, I am not sure. Can anyone help?

I am trying the knowledge base in parallel, but my initial search yielded
nothing.

Thank you.

Jean-Pierre

P.S. This is the second time in as many weeks that I loose sofware in an
abnormal
shutdown...

If you have the microsoft XP installation CD, not the computer manufacturer's
OEM disks, you can boot from it and do a repair install.
It is NOT supposed to lose your Data, just MS updates, but backup anyway.

Mick,

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, no, I do not have the original
Microsoft XP Installation CD. I have the Computer Manufacturer´s disk, and
that´s Microsoft Windows XP v 1.1. I have installed a lot of patches since.

Anyway, I have since figured out these drivers are related to a modem
wireless router attached to the machine, manufactured by 2wire and sold to me
by the local Internet provider.

I am contacting both about them. Thank you and Good Day Mate!
