Outlook 2007 with Vista Home Premium

Many times I will close out Outlook 2007, and task manager will show that it
is not an application that is running, but when you look at processes, it
still shows that is running and using significant CPU. When you try and open
it again it will open Outlook without requiring the password, and it will not
go back and look for new messages. A reboot is necessary. A very similar
problem was in Windows 2000 and Outlook 2000, Outlook 2000 would just get
lost doing something, but I could never figure out what it was doing. A
reboot was necessary back then. Anybody else having this problem?

Its generally caused by comm addins or something else intergrated with OL.
Its not an o/s problem
In the first instance if you have any AV intergrated with OL, uninstall the
complete suite, as disabling the addin or process frequently doesnt help
