I know I could contact Dell about this, but I've had several problems with Vista since I bought this computer, so I thought I'd search for a simple fix first.
PROBLEM:
After a few months of working properly, my DVD player reads a disc (green status bar moves across) then I get a message to "Insert Disc" and my drive reopens. This problem happens consistently. Again it worked fine for a few months and now I'm having this problem.

Got a bootable CD or DVD? Try that and see if it will boot.

Does it apply to any disc inserted, and have you tried running a CD/DVD lens
cleaner in the drive?
