Post subject: Missing DVD Rom in Explorer Add to elertz Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>hardware_devices (more info?)
I have a Toshiba Laptop and the DVD Drive is missing from explorer. I went to
toshibas site for info and they referanced this site.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929461/en-us
I follwed the directions but there is no lower filter entry. When I look in
device manager there is no DVD/CD-ROM drives selection. I am running Vista
Home Premium. I also tryed a program at this address.
http://kgiii.info/windows/XP/general/missing_CD-DVD_drives.html
but its for XP and all it does is do what the instructions tell you to do.
Thank you for any help you can give

My DVD Drive disappeared from Explorer and Device Manager. I also didn't
have the upper and lower filter entrees. I spent the better part of today
reading newsgroups for answers to get my DVD Drive back on my laptop.
Nothing seemed to work until I turned off my laptop, took the drive out and
put it back in. I turned the laptop back on and it searched for a driver,
found it and now the DVD Drive works again. I may lose it again later but
for now it is working. I have turned off my laptop and turned it back on and
it is still there. You might see if this will fix your problem.
