IE8b2 appears to have significant incompatibilities with Windows Mail and
Windows Live Mail. In my WM, the read font reverted to Times New Roman.
Setting it back to Verdana had no effect.

I have the same problem (i'm french so sorry for my poor english)
In Windows Live Mail on XP, the font has become Times News Roman in the
mails and usenet posts since I have installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2.
I ve tried to check and uncheck accessibility in Internet Explorer options
but nothing has changed, it's still Times New Roman.
Does anyone know how to have Arial or Verdana in Windows Live Mail ?

The only solution is to uninstall the IE8 beta.

As a novice I hesitated before posting this msg. from an august MS-MVP but
here goes anyway!
A short time back I posted messages in several Newsgroups concerning
"frozen" fonts and font sizing but no solution was forthcoming - including a
response from you Gary.
However I did gain a clue from a Googled page which led me to the answer I
wanted. Maybe it would help your problem also with IE8b2.
It is very simple - Open IE / Internet Options and click the ACCESSIBILITY
button at the bottom right hand side of the dialogue box. Uncheck any
options in the resulting box and let us know if this fixes the font lock-up.

Thanks for that suggestion, but I do not have any Accessibility options
checked. I'm afraid the only solution for the font problem brought on
by IE8 is to uninstall IE8.
