I'm having a similar problem. I have a nas drive (hp media vault) and want
to index documents on that drive. Is this possible? If vista can't do this
do you guys know about any other util that might help with this?
Thanks,
Troy

Microsoft released this. It should resolve what you need. 'Download
details: Windows Desktop Search: Add-in for Files on Microsoft Networks'

The suggested way of doing this is navigating to the folder and making it
available offline via the "Offline Files" tab of the folder properties
dialog. Also, if the machine that you want to search against is running
Windows Vista or Windows Search 4
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BC28ED7F-C51B-49CD-B505-95B91B453284&displaylang=en&displaylang=en),
then we will search against the index on the remote machine so you don't need
to locally index those files.
FYI - The Add-in for Files on Microsoft Networks is currently only supported
on 32-bit machines.
