Hello Everyone!

I am new here and have just recently purchased a dv5x-1000 with Vista 64 bit. It definately does seem to correlate to HP's software and MS Bluetooth devices. Because the message did not start to show up until I loaded the Intellimouse software for my Wireless Notebook Mouse 8000.

I have started to narrow down where the issue is coming from. The hiddata.exe file in my case is in the HP Quick Launch Button program folder. I have deleted this file once and it seems to keep this message from appearing again. I'm not sure though what repercussions I will suffer from doing this. Does anyone else have HP's Quick Launch Button application installed? If so can you move or rename your hiddata.exe file and see if it helps your problem? Try this at your own risk. I'm not sure if this will mess up your laptop or not. Make sure you have a backup of your computer first. I'm not saying this is a fix, but I'm just trying to narrow down what application is causing the problem

I have a DV-7 1090 myself and a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 with
this problem. I did some debugging today on directions of an HP tech guy. I
found out that the problem is caused by the Quick Launch Buttons program,
QlbCtrl.exe. If you disable this program, the error is gone. Don't know by
the way what functionality I lost by disabling, but the annoying message is
gone though!

Here's what you should do:
Click on the Vista logo on the bottom left of your screen
In the search field, enter: msconfig
Press enter to start the program
Click continue if you get the popup of User Account Management
Choose the startup tab in the System Configuration Window
Browse to the "HP Quick Launch Buttons" and uncheck this item
Click the OK button and restart your system

The annoying message should be gone now!

Please post if this has solved your problem too!

I read on another forum that disabling the HP Quick Start Buttons will
make this go away - but that's not a satisfactory solution IMHO.
In my case, it's a brand-new HP laptop, first time out of the box.
This is NOT reasonable. Also, I'm not using a bluetooth mouse, although
there are 2 bluetooth mice, connected with other computers, within
range.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Disabling quickstart did work. But I agree that is not an acceptable
solution.

Hi Harald,

I have a HP dv7-1005, Vista Home Premium and Belkin Bluetooth Adapter. Your solution with disabling quick launch buttons works fine.

It's unbelievable but the annoying popup is really gone.

Big thanks to You from Germany.
